Sep 05, 2024

Preparation:

  1. Gather Supplies:
    • Car light tint film kit (pre-cut for your specific lights)
    • Spray bottle filled with a water and soap solution (baby shampoo or dish soap)
    • Squeegee or soft cloth
    • Heat gun or hairdryer (for shaping the film)
    • Exacto knife or sharp blade
    • Microfiber cloth
  2. Clean the Lights:
    • Ensure the lights are thoroughly cleaned to remove any dirt, wax, or debris. Use a mild soap and water solution to clean and dry completely.
  3. Measure and Cut:
    • Measure the dimensions of your lights and cut the tint film accordingly, leaving a slight margin around the edges for adjustment.

Installation:

  1. Prepare the Film:
    • Spray the application side of the film with the soap and water solution to prevent it from sticking immediately.
  2. Position and Apply:
    • Carefully position the tint film over the light. Adjust it to ensure proper alignment and coverage.
    • Once satisfied with the positioning, use your fingers to press the film into place gently.
  3. Squeegee Out Air Bubbles:
    • Starting from the center, use a squeegee or soft cloth to push out any air bubbles towards the edges. Work methodically to avoid creases.
  4. Trim Excess Film:
    • Use an Exacto knife or sharp blade to trim the excess film along the edges of the light. Take care not to scratch the light surface.
  5. Heat and Shape:
    • Use a heat gun or hairdryer on a low setting to gently heat the film. This helps the film conform to the curves and contours of the light.
  6. Final Adjustments:
    • After shaping with heat, use the squeegee again to ensure all edges are securely adhered and any remaining air bubbles are eliminated.
  7. Let it Set:
    • Allow the tint film to dry and set for at least 24 hours before exposing it to moisture or washing the vehicle.

Tips:

  • Work in a Clean Environment: Dust and debris can affect the adhesion of the film.
  • Use Ample Water and Soap Solution: This helps in positioning and reduces the chances of the film sticking prematurely.
  • Be Patient with Shaping: Heating the film gently makes it more pliable for shaping around complex curves.
  • Check Legal Requirements: Ensure that the tint darkness complies with local regulations.
